Tony W. Cawthon, Ph.D. |
Tony W. Cawthon is a Professor of Counselor Education at Clemson University. His primary responsibilities are in the concentration area of Student Affairs and Higher Education and as Interim Dept. Chair for Leadership, Counselor Education, Human and Organization Development. Prior to beginning his faculty career at Clemson University, he worked as a Student Affairs administrator for over 15 years at Clemson University, Mississippi State University, and the University of Tennessee Knoxville. As an administrator, he worked in the area of Housing and Residential Life.
He has written extensively in the areas of student affairs and higher education. He has written extensive book chapters on numerous student and higher education issues and has published articles in journals such as the NASPA Journal, the Journal of College Student Affairs, the Journal of College and University Student Housing, and the Journal of College Orientation and Transition. He has a book entitled: Using the entertainment media to facilitate student learning: Movies, music, television, and popular press books in student affairs classrooms and practice that is part of the New Directions for Student Services series.
He is also currently active in the following professional organizations: Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (Associate Editor of Journal); Southern Association for College Student Affairs (Senior Editor Journal); South Carolina College Personnel Association (Co-Editor, Palmetto Practitioner).
He also served as Program Chair of both the ACUHO-I association and the SACSA organization. In 2002, he was selected as a SACSA Scholar and in 2003, SCCPA awarded him the "Clarice W. Johnson Outstanding Professional Award. He has also served as faculty at both the Mid-Managers Institute and the National Housing Training Institute. His current research interests are in the areas of new professionals, technology, higher education administration and career development.

Pamela A. Havice, Ph.D. |
Pamela A. Havice is an Associate Professor of Counselor Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs at Clemson University, and serves as the Student Affairs Program Coordinator. She has been an integral part of developing a distributed learning environment for the delivery of the Student Affairs/Counselor Education program. Her primary areas of research include distance and distributed learning environments and applications, multicultural issues, and faculty and student development. Pam has numerous published articles, book chapters, professional presentations and an edited book on distance and distributed learning. She is currently an associate editor of the College Student Affairs Journal and co-editor of the online journal the Palmetto Practitioner.
Prior to coming to Clemson University, she was Assistant Professor and Director of Continuing Nursing Education at Fort Hays State University in Kansas where she taught undergraduate nursing courses for 16 years. She began her career as an educator and academic advisor in nursing.
Pam has written numerous books chapters on distributed and distance education issues and published articles in journals such as The College Student Affairs Journal, The Quarterly Review of Distance Education, The Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing, and National Forum of Educational Administration and Supervision Journal. She has a published book, Distance and Distributed Learning Environments: Perspectives and Strategies. She has served as an elected member of the Board of Directors of the South Carolina College Student Personnel Association, the South Carolina Youth Learning Institute, New Horizons Family-Teen Mom Program and the Fort Hays State University International Alumni Advisory Board.
She has received professional awards including the 1995 Outstanding Young Alumni Award at Fort Hays State University; member of the Oxford Round Table, Oxford, England, Summer 2002; and the South Carolina College Personnel Association, Paul P. Fidler Bridge Builder Award, as well as the Hilda F. Owens Award for Contribution to Knowledge in the Field.

Barbara L. Griffin, Ph.D. |
Barbara L. Griffin is a retired Professor Emeritus of Counselor Education at Clemson University. Currently she is an adjunct faculty member for Clemson University’s Ph.D. program in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education and serves as student advisor for the Cohort at the LGC (Low Country Graduate Center) in Charleston, S.C. Additionally, she is an adjunct faculty member at The Citadel’s Counselor Education program. Prior to coming to Clemson University, she was a faculty member at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. From l980 to l986 taught graduate and undergraduate in Counselor Education. She began her career as a guidance counselor in Trumbull, Conn. in l970. She has edited a text on Constructivist Techniques in Counseling, Supervision and Research and has published articles in the Journal of Counseling and Development and Journal of College Counseling.
She served as President of the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision from l993-94 and prior to that time served on numerous committees at the state, regional and national level for American Counseling Association. She has received a professional award for the Outstanding Teacher of the Year for the College of Education at Southwest Texas State University in l986. Her current academic interests are in the areas of international educational and cultural experiences for student s and constructivist concepts as applied to the counseling process for the college population.

Suzanne Gordon, Ph.D. |
Dr. Suzanne E. Gordon was Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students at the University of Arkansas from 1982-01. Dr. Gordon served as president of NASPA 1996-97, Region IV-West vice president 1990-92, and president of SACSA 1985-86. She was part of the first NASPA delegation to visit student affairs colleagues in Germany, Belgium, and France in the summer of 1995, a visit that served as a beginning point for numerous professional exchanges between the United States and these European countries. Also in 1995, she was a recipient of the Fulbright Administrators Seminar in Germany. Since Dr. Gordon's retirement, she has continued her interest in international education and has co-lead several study groups to Ireland and England for graduate students and student affairs persons around the country. She particularly enjoys traveling, fly fishing, and cooking.

Jeanine Ward-Roof, Ph.D. |
Jeanine is the Dean of Students at Florida State University as the Dean of Students with prior service at Clemson University. She has served the Student Affairs field for the past 18 years in various roles. She also serves as an adjunct professor in the Counselor Education - Student Affairs area at Clemson where she has taught for the past few years. Prior to working at Clemson University, she was the Women's Area Coordinator at University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio while she was pursuing her Master's degree at Bowling Green State University.
Jeanine has been involved Nationally and has served in a variety of leadership roles including President of the National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) and South Carolina College Personnel Association (SCCPA); as the Director of Regions, a member of the Board of Directors, a regional and national conference chair, and newsletter editor for the NODA; and as conference chair and newsletter editor for SCCPA She has also co-edited the monograph Designing Successful Transitions: A Guide to Orienting Students to College published by the National Resource Center for the First Year Experience and Students in Transition and the National Orientation Directors Association and written several articles for the College Student Affairs Journal, the Journal of Orientation and Transition, and the NASPA Journal.
