COMPARATIVE
RESEARCH TRIAL ON RELAPSE PREVENTION
Dr. Hugh Spitler
and Dr. Eric Seiber are working with
substance abuse prevention practitioners in South Carolina, clinical staff
members of the Department of Pardons and Paroles of the State of Georgia,
and with faculty in the Department
of Counseling, Mercer University, Atlanta Campus, in the application
and validation of Dr. Gerwe’s Orchestration Method of treatment
for addiction relapse among adult prisoners in the Georgia Day Reporting
Centers prisoner transportation program. Based on three years of pilot
implementation by Dr. David Carter at the Atlanta Day Reporting Center,
work is currently under way to develop comparative trials at three new
Day Reporting Centers in Georgia that will compare Dr. Gerwe’s treatment
method with standard treatment approaches currently in place.
