Edwards Hall

CLASSROOMS AND OFFICES

Most Health Science courses are taught in Edwards Hall. Classrooms range in size from 40 to 65 seats, with an average undergraduate class size of approximately 45. Several classrooms are equipped with computer projection equipment, and network connection.

THE ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTER

The Academic Advising Center is located in 309 Edwards Hall. This office is available for a variety of services for students; however, the primary purpose is to provide students with essential academic advising services. Ms. Dorian Kierce is the primary advisor for the Department of Public Health Sciences. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Ms. Kierce is available by appointment and students may make appointments at the Student Services reception desk (Rm. 309) or by calling (864) 656-5495.

THE JOSEPH F. SULLIVAN CENTER

The Joseph F. Sullivan Center provides opportunities for students to gain experience in providing health promotion, disease prevention, and wellness services. Under the guidance of faculty, students plan and implement these services in a well equipped, up-to-date health facility. Health Science students with proper training also conduct health fitness testing.

THE LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER

The Learning Resource Center is located in 202 Edwards Hall and provides the following services to assist students and faculty:

  • Medical Equipment available for checkout (blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, thermometers, reflex hammers, penlights, and variety of models for demonstration purposes.
  • Audiovisual Materials: Video, audiocassettes, slides, transparencies, and flip charts.
  • Books/Journals/Theses: a small collection of books which are relevant to Public Health for checkout.
  • Computer and Video Technology: three interactive video stations, VCR stations, and software including SIS, e-mail, Word, Excel, & Powerpoint.

HEALTH SCIENCE SKILLS LAB

Health Science Skills Lab is located in 113 Edwards Hall and provides students with hands-on skills to assess a number of health issues such as blood pressure, blood cholesterol, percent body fat, and aerobic fitness.
