Teacher Professional Development and
Certificate Renewal

Teacher professional development and certificate renewal credit courses (“contract courses”) are offered to the public school districts, state research centers, and medical professionals as a means of professional development in each area. They are designed to train, develop, and/or update the knowledge base, expertise and skills of the target population in an academic area not normally covered by traditional undergraduate or graduate classes. They are primarily used by the public school sector as a means of certificate renewal for public school teachers in grades K-12.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES

Professional development courses are offered for graduate credit but are not applicable to the requirements for earning a graduate degree. These courses are used to satisfy the professional development requirements for certificate renewal.

DEGREE ELIGIBLE COURSES

These courses satisfy the professional development requirement for certificate renewal and may be applied to some graduate degree programs. The specific academic department and adviser determine the degree eligibility of these courses.
