Requesting Contract Courses
STEP ONE: Determine Need and Develop Course
- Occurs at least one month before beginning of course
- Need is identified by school district, outside agency, faculty member, or others
- Course is developed with appropriate instructional design, delivery, interaction, and evaluation strategies
- Location is identified
STEP TWO: Obtain Appropriate Approvals
- Received by HEHD Office of Distance Education at least 2 weeks before the start of the course
- New Faculty member - 3 weeks before
- New course - 4 weeks before
- School District submits Course Authorization Form syllabus (NCATE standard), curriculum vita, and justifications (if necessary) to the Office of Distance Education to be forwarded to appropriate academic area
- Academic Area Coordinator reviews request for compliance with Clemson University, NCATE, CHE, and SACS policies
- Academic Area Coordinator notifies school district of approval/disapproval or request and returns signed Course Authorization Form to Office of Distance Education before the start of the course
STEP THREE: Schedule Course
- Due upon approval
- Course is scheduled with Registrar (500 section number) by Office of Distance Education
- Faculty is appointed
STEP FOUR: Admit and Register Students
- Complete at beginning of course
- Office of Distance Education collects applications and application fees for the Graduate School
- Office of Distance Education registers the students
- Office of Distance Education sends invoice, collects contract fees, and processes pay
STEP FIVE: Teach Course
- As Scheduled
STEP SIX: Evaluate Course
- Due at the end of course and continuously
- Students and academic area coordinators evaluate course and faculty member
- Effectiveness of the course is continuously evaluated by school district and Clemson University
