Ms. Urueta, a Greenville County principal, is passionate about early childhood education, often sending letters and e-mails to legislators and business leaders about the importance of pre-kindergarten programs. Concerned about the role nutrition plays in physical and academic development, she piloted a fitness and nutrition curriculum for students and staff known as Zest Quest, now slated to be duplicated in several other states. She is fluent in Spanish and has made a tremendous effort to reach out to the school's growing Hispanic population.
