REVISED
DEPARTMENTAL HONORS PROGRAM INITIATED IN FALL 2004
First year of the revised departmental honors program
is completed. The Department of Public Health Sciences
revised the departmental honors program by developing three new honors
courses that prepare honors students for writing an honors thesis. Three
students were admitted to the honors program in the fall of 2004: Christine
Beck, Stephanie Bristol, and Bonnie Jones. All of the honors students
are currently engaged in faculty research projects. Christine Beck was
one of two non-Psychology majors selected for the Department of Psychology’s
Summer Research Internship program this summer and will work under the
supervision of Dr. Richard
Tyrell in the Department of
Psychology and Dr. Hugh D. Spitler in
the
Department of Public Health Sciences.
Bonnie Jones is involved in a collaborative nutrition project with Dr.
Karen Kemper, the staff of the Joseph
F. Sullivan Center, and faculty in the Department
of Nutrition. Stephanie Bristol is spending a semester abroad studying
health administration issues and will work with Dr.
Windsor Sherrill and Dr. Eric Seiber
when she returns in the Spring of 2006.
