The Associate Dean for Academic Support Services provides academic support services for the College. Academic Support Services uphold the overall University and College missions by providing services that enable meeting goals of teaching, research, and public service. These services include Academic Advising, Continuing Education in Nursing, Media and Learning Resources, Marketing and Public Relations, Student Services, Technology Resources, Facilities and Operations, Classified Staff and By-laws of HEHD. Kathy Headley, Ph.D.

Kathy Headley is Professor of Reading Education and a faculty member at Clemson University since 1987. Dr. Headley began her career as an elementary classroom teacher and reading specialist in Georgia before completing her doctorate in reading from Auburn University. In addition to her new position as Associate Dean, Dr. Headley continues her collaboration with the Center of Excellence in Adolescent Literacy and Learning as Research Director, having previously served as Co-director of the Center. Lee Crandall, Ph.D.

Lee Crandall is a medical sociologist, health services researcher, and social epidemiologist who was trained as a United States Public Health Service Fellow at Purdue University’s Health Services Research and Training Program. He has been a faculty member at the University of Florida College of Medicine (1976-94), the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1994-2000) and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (2000-2007). Mike Padilla, Ph.D.

Dr. Padilla accepted the position of director and associate dean in Spring 2007. He is former director for educator partnerships at the College of Education and former associate dean and chair of the Department of Science Education at the University of Georgia (UGA). Dr. Padilla taught science in middle and secondary schools and served as one of the writers of the 1996 U.S. National Science Education Standards. In spring 2004, he was elected as president-elect of the National Science Teachers Association, the world’s largest science-teaching organization. He was recognized as the Aderhold Distinguished Professor in the UGA College of Education and received the University’s Walter B. Hill Award for Distinguished Achievement in Public Service and the NSTA Distinguished Service Award in 2003. Learn more about Mike Padilla.

The Director is responsible for the day-to-day management and the strategic leadership of the Joseph F. Sullivan Center. The Sullivan Center provides clinical practice opportunities for students and health services to the community. The director works collaboratively with academic department heads and community leaders to develop and initiate innovative outreach programs that integrate teaching, research, and service. The Director reports to the College Dean.

The Chairperson of the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management serves at the pleasure of the Dean of the College of HEHD. He is delegated the authority to administratively represent and operationally execute the academic and business functions of the department. Responsibilities include oversight of the academic course offerings, evaluation activity, planning functions, budget and staff supervision, adherence to university policies and procedures, contract and affiliation activity, and general advocacy of the department and its programs to the university, other educational institutions, and corporate communities. The Chairperson reports to the College Dean.

The Executive Director of the National Dropout Prevention Center is the Center's administrator, reporting to the Dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Development. Duties include: liaison with national organizations and agencies; long-range planning; management of professional staff; grant writing and fund-raising, including extensive travel and business and social contacts; evaluation of program effectiveness; and budgeting. The Executive Director reports to the College Dean.
