Dr. Havice is responsible for promoting and developing the academic support services and undergraduate studies in the College of Health, Education, and Human Development (HEHD). This unit supports the overall University and College missions by providing services that enable faculty and staff to meet their goals of teaching, research, and public service. Academic Support Services includes: Academic Advising and Student Support, Technology Resources, Media and Learning Resources, Communication and Public Relations, Classified Staff Support, and By-laws of the College.

Bill has been involved in instructional technology and technology education at the local, state, regional, national and international levels. His teaching, advising and administrative experience includes 30 years at the secondary and university levels. Bill has extensive background in curriculum development, teacher and trainer education, student organizations, technology laboratory development and maintenance, leadership activities in technology, as well as designing and implementing distance/distributed learning environments.

Dr. Havice has presented internationally and published numerous journal articles, book chapters, and an edited book documenting his research on technology and instructional technology topics. Specifically, his work is focused on the introduction of technology into the K-16 classroom and the integration of technology to enhance learning. He is a strong advocate of technological literacy for all people and has been involved in activities such as designing and creating a Master's degree in instructional technology, designing and developing Web sites, developing on-line coursework, etc.

He has received numerous awards for outstanding teacher, program, and service to his profession, including Clemson University's Board of Trustees Award for Faculty Excellence, Distinguished Faculty Advisor for the International Technology Education Association (ITEA)/Technology Education Collegiate Association (TECA), and ITEA's Distinguished Technology Educator (DTE) award. He served as the Technology Education Collegiate Association (TECA) International Advisor. Dr. Havice is recipient of the highest award given to a graduate of Fort Hays State University, the Alumni Achievement Award.

Dr. Havice has served on the Board of Directors for the International Technology Education Association (ITEA). He is a Laureate member of the Gamma Tau Chapter of Epsilon Pi Tau (EPT). He served as a presenter for the Center to Advance the Teaching of Technology & Science (CATTS) that was established by the International Technology Education Association (ITEA) in 1998 to strengthen professional development and advance technological literacy. Bill served two terms on the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) Board of Examiners and presently serves as a Specialized Professional Association (SPA) reviewer representing the International Technology Education Association (ITEA) Council of Technology Teacher Education (CTTE).
