INSTITUTE FUNDING The two major sources of funding are the Creel Endowment and the Bishop Assistantship in Tourism. The purpose of the Creel Endowment is the provide the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management with seed money to conduct research on critical tourism and recreation issues facing South Carolina and the nation. Funds from the Creel Endowment are to expand the research facilities of the Recreation, Travel and Tourism Institute. The purpose of the Bishop Assistantship in Tourism is to provide a graduate assistantship for a student enrolled in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management who will participate in projects focusing issues relating to the Myrtle Beach tourism industry. In addition to the two endowments, it is the responsibility
of the Recreation, Travel and Tourism Institute Director to solicit
extramural funding for the purpose of supporting Institute activities
and graduate students. |
