The Hartzog Fund

The Hartzog Fund was conceived in 1978 when colleague William C. Everhart and his wife, Mary, sought to honor the man who had meant so much to them and to the park movement in the United States. Everhart, after serving as Alumni Visiting Professorship at Clemson in 1978, chose to honor Hartzog by presenting a financial gift to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management in Hartzog's name. The Everharts' gift, along with donations from foundations, associates and friends, is used to promote the educational activities of the department.

The Fund allows the department to sponsor two annual activities and one fellow award. The Hartzog Lecture Series in Resource Management and The Hartzog Luncheon and Awards. The Hartzog Fellow was implemented this year and will support a graduate student doing research in parks associated with the National Park Service.

Please help us promote excellence in resource management and conservation by making your donation to Clemson University Foundation - Hartzog Fund and mail to: Clemson University, 110 Daniel Dr., Clemson, SC 29631-1520. Attn. Pat Padgett.

The Hartzog Lecture Series in Resource Management was developed to feature leading figures in the field of conservation. In addition to the Hartzog Lecture Series, Clemson University, through the auspices of the Fund, has initiated six awards to recognize exemplary leadership in addressing environmental issues and concerns. The Lecture is co-sponsored by Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, College of Health, Education and Human Development and The Strom Thurmond Institute. Below is a list of the awards and the criteria for these awards.
