About Us

Over the past four years, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management has experienced watershed changes in its faculty makeup. Many of the faculty members who helped build Clemson’s reputation as a national leader in parks, recreation and tourism education have retired, now enjoying emeritus status with the University. And, while we owe these colleagues a great deal for their efforts in building the foundation of the PRTM heritage, our recent infusion of new faculty has injected a new energy and enthusiasm into our daily activities and the heritage continues. With expertise in park planning, therapeutic recreation, youth development, heritage tourism, human dimensions of natural resources, economics and other specialties, they come from the nation’s top universities and programs. Please get to know them.

It is with profound sadness we report
the passing of our friend and colleague,

Dr. Judith E. Voelkl

Her laughter and intellect engaged us.
Her courage and spirit inspired us.

We will miss her.
